Enhancement of Capacity for Effective Management of EU Cohesion Policy Funds

Together with EU partners - Lithuania and Hungary, Croatia begins to implement the EU Twinning project for Croatia titled - „Enhancement of Capacity for Effective Management of EU Cohesion Policy Funds”. The main goal of the project is to increase capacity for overall coordination of the implementation of Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund (SCF) inCroatia, technically correct and effective financial management of funds, systematic and effective monitoring of SCF programmes. Thus, it aims to contribute to effective implementation and management of the EU funds inCroatia, in line with the EU requirements.

Project will be implemented in two Components. The first one aims at effective coordination of structural instruments through support to Central Office for Development Strategy and Coordination of the EU Funds, as the future Coordinating Authority for National Strategic Reference Framework as well as to future Managing Authorities and Intermediate Bodies. The second one will support effective financial management of structural instruments and preparation for Compliance Assessment for Cohesion Policy in Croatia, through assistance to Ministry of Finance, as the future Certifying Authority as well as to a number of line ministries and agencies assigned with preparation and implementation of sector programmes. The Twinning project is being implemented until 1^st September 2013. The project’s budget is 2 million EUR, of which 95 per cent is paid by the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), and 5 per cent is paid through national co-financing.
