Twinning Light Project to Support the Customs Administration of North Macedonia Officially Launched

As part of the Twinning Light project “Drafting EU Union Customs Code (UCC) Implementing Regulations in North Macedonia”, the Kick-off Meeting took place on 2 September 2026 in Skopje.

The Twinning Light project, led by the Croatian Ministry of Finance – Customs Administration represents another example of the long-standing successful cooperation and strong bilateral ties between the Customs Administrations of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of North Macedonia.

The project aims to support the Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia in further aligning its customs legislation and practices with the EU acquis, particularly in the implementation of the Union Customs Code (UCC).

The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of North Macedonia, H.E. Ms Nives Tiganj, also participated in the Kick-off Meeting. She opened the meeting by welcoming the launch of the new project and highlighting the importance of continued successful cooperation between the institutions of the two countries.

In addition to presenting the project’s objectives, planned activities and expected results, a significant part of the meeting was dedicated to the operational aspects of project management and implementation. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) as the administrative body supporting the effective implementation of the project and ensuring the coordination of its administrative, financial and contractual aspects.
