The closure of EDU CROSS project – “Cross Border Education for Faster Development of Cross Border Areas”

The purpose of the EDU CROSS 2007 project was to organise free educational programmes for nine scarce professions: independent accountant, nurse, farmer – milkman, cook assistant, accountant, mason, greengrocer, waiter and PC operator. The aforementioned educational programmes will enable human resources development, better preparation for labour market as well as the stronger economic competition in cross-border area of Međimurje and Varaždin County. All together 210 attendants received certificates for successful completion of educational programme.

Principally, this project aimed to help unemployed persons with the first and second education degree, with lack of relevant qualifications, to employees in tertiary sector, and anybody interested in participating in this programme – from individuals to educational institutions for lifelong learning in the region.

The 12 month implementation period included seminars, presentations, press conferences, publicity advertisements and brochures, with intention to strengthen the public awareness for educational needs of adults and their continuous improving. 

The total project value was 101.172 euros, of which 75 percent was financed within Phare 2006 programme, and from Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure budget, whilst the rest was financed by Open University Čakovec and Open University Varaždin.
